New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre crossed the finish line yesterday at the Boston Marathon a mere five minutes before the twin explosions rocked the area.
He tweeted photos in the minutes before the race began on Monday and later added some shocking news, “There was an explosion by the finish line about 5 minutes after I finished. I’m ok but I’m sure there are many hurt.”
Sadly, his words turned out to be correct. Three were killed, including an eight-year-old boy. Area hospitals have treated 150 injured, including several who remain critical.
Bandmate Donnie Wahlberg was relieved to discover that McIntrye was not among the injured. He tweeted, “Just heard that @joeymcintyre is ok! Thanks to everyone for tweeting! Scared for everyone else in Boston. #PrayerForBoston please.”
Joey ran the race to honor his mother, who suffers from Alzheimers, donning a purple race singlet that had the organization name and logo on the front.
