“The Dark Knight Rises” star Christian Bale visited the victims of the movie theater shooting in Aurora, CO.
The actor was escorted by Colorado State Patrol in an unmarked SUV organized by the governor’s office around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. He and his wife, Sibi Blazic, also visited a memorial to honor the 12 people who died at Century 16 Movie Theater’s midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.
Internet campaigns urging Bale to visit the shooting victims emerged on the internet after the tragedy and went viral.
“Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Bros.,” said a spokesman for Warner Bros.
A photo of Bale with Carey Rottman, one of those injured in Friday’s shooting, made it’s way across the internet after Rottman posted it on his Facebook page.
Bale issued a statement on Saturday, saying, “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”
