Jason Kidd was arrested by Southampton police and charged early Sunday with driving under the influence after crashing his Cadillac Escalade into a telephone pole.
The accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. in Water Mill, N.Y. less than an hour after the NBA player reportedly had to be helped out of the SL East club because of his inebriated condition.
Kidd was treated for minor injuries and then arraigned on a misdemeanor DUI charge and released.
The DUI came several days after the NBA point guard signed a three-year, $9.5 million deal with the New York Knicks.
Kidd started out the evening at the George Lucas ‘Fostering a Legacy’ gala foundation event in East Hampton with his wife Porschla Coleman, a television personality and actress.
