Arsenio Hall has snagged a new late-night talk show set to kick off on CBS in September 2013.

In a calculated attempt to jump start his stalled career, the 56-year-old former talk show host signed on for a stint on Donald Trump‘s NBC reality show ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’

The gamble paid off in spades last month when the veteran television personality beat out the field of eighteen, including co-finalist Clay Aiken, to become this season’s winner.

Less than a month later Hall has announced a partnership with syndicator CBS Television Distribution. They will broadcast his new show in the 11 p.m. time slot on 17 stations including Chicago and Los Angeles next year.

Arsenio made the rounds yesterday to hype the new show. “In the end I’m a comic, and nothing fits the talk-show mode like a stand-up comic. I know there are lots of shows, but I think there’s a space for my show.”

His original show premiered in 1989 and had a successful run that ended in 1994. A highlight was the appearance of presidential candidate Bill Clinton, who donned sunglasses for a saxophone rendition of Heartbreak Hotel.
