Radiohead cancelled a sold out concert performance at Downsview Park in Toronto Saturday after the stage collapsed, causing injuries and one death.

The deceased man, from Doncaster, England, was identified as Scott Johnson, 33, a drum tech for the band. Trapped under the rubble, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a “heavy, crushing injury.”

Another stagehand was rushed to the hospital with a head injury, while two others sought medical attention for minor injuries.

Police spokesman Tony Vella said, “They were setting up when the top portion collapsed on top of them. Unfortunately, four people were hurt. The remainder of the people, when they heard the stage coming down, ran from the area.”

Local Toronto radio station ‘The Edge’ was sponsoring the event and said, “There was a loud crash and it sounded like sheet metal and lightning and we just saw the stage collapse.”

Radiohead made an announcement via Twitter:

Security officials estimate there were 1,000 people at the park when the accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. The show was set to kick off at 7:30 p.m., the last stop on an 11-show North American tour that started in late May.

The Canadian Ministry of Labor has begun an investigate into the cause of the collapse.
