American Idol learned yesterday that one of their Top 13 male finalists, Jermaine Jones, has a criminal past and several outstanding warrants. As a result he was disqualified from the hit FOX show.

AI confronted Jones on camera Tuesday. That footage will be shown tonight and we wouldn’t be surprised to see a few promos today alluding to the drama in store for viewers.

Jones painted the picture of a hard luck past when he told Idol producers that he had been abandoned by his father ten years ago. Dad surfaced earlier this week and called the story B.S. because they see each other frequently.

This led execs to look a little more closely into Jermaine’s background. It was then that they discovered he provided fake names to officers during two arrests for violence in 2011.

Jones tweeted early this morning, “Awww I will no longer b on the show.” His Twitter account @jjonesai11 has since been deleted.

Jermaine didn’t make the Final 24 cut but was added back into the mix afterward to become the 25th semi-finalist, making him the thirteen male in the group.

His last performance was the Stevie Wonder tune Knocks Me Off My Feet. Check out out below:
