Rihanna is lending her support to the Invisible Children campaign to expose Ugandan warlord and fugitive guerrilla leader Joseph Kony.
The organization posted a 30-minute documentary video on YouTube that received 25 million hits in one day. The compelling footage details the world of terrified Ugandan children who live in fear of being abducted and forced into service as part of a child army and prostitution ring.
Kony and his rebel group Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) have a long standing criminal history, dating back to 1986, of turning young girls into sex slaves and boys into soldiers.
In 2005 Kony was indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, but has evaded capture.
Rihanna hit Twitter to raise awareness among her 16 million followers and is scheduled to meet with Invisible Children execs to find out how she can best partner with them in their efforts to spread the world.
