Giuliana Rancic, the host of E! News and Fashion Police, revealed on the NBC Today Show this morning that she has breast cancer.
The television personality learned that she had a tumor while attempting to get pregnant via a third round of in-vitro fertilization.
Her IVF doctor strongly suggested that the 37-year-old have a mammogram, something she hadn’t planned to do until she reached age 40. She admits that she went “kicking and screaming” but the decision to do so may have saved her life.
This morning Rancic sat down with Ann Curry to share the emotional news that she will undergo surgery this week followed by six weeks of radiation therapy.
The positive news is that the cancer was detected early and her doctors tell her the prognosis is good.
Giuliana’s husband is real estate developer Bill Rancic, who was named the first winner on Celebrity Apprentice.
