Multiple news sources reported early this morning that pro-golfer Tiger Woods would be making a big announcement on the Golf Channel at 11:00 a.m. ET. The specifics were unknown, leading many sports sources to speculate about what news he would be sharing.

The 14 time major champion has been dealing with knee and Achilles injuries and announced last week that he would have to pull out of the British Open in order to heal properly.

Does he need a longer break from the game…is he retiring? It seems highly unlikely that he is ready to throw in the towel. In a recent interview Tiger said: “I think my best years are still ahead of me and I’m very confident and optimistic about the future.”

Woods pulled out of the Players Championship in May with knee and tendon injuries. The injuries stemmed from a poorly executed shot under a tree at the Masters in April.

Sports Illustrated has since published a retraction to their previous story, after securing a clarification statement from Tiger’s agent Mark Steinberg: There’s an erroneous report that he’s making an announcement, but he’s not.”

The only news coming out of the golfer’s camp is that Steinberg and Woods are joining Excel Sports Management. They left IMG earlier this year after nearly two decades. The new agency recently signed Derek Jeter.

Glad we got that all cleared up. Have a good day!
