Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and reigning champ of Dancing With the Stars, Hines Ward, was arrested early this morning for DUI.
The athlete was picked up by Dekalb County, GA police for driving under the influence. He was held on a $1000 bond, which was posted shortly after he was booked.
Ward, 35, was raised in Atlanta and played college ball for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He graduated with a degree in consumer economics and was a member of Phi Beta Sigma.
The NFL player’s manager said: “He cooperated fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions. We can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving. Hines is deeply saddened by this incident and apologizes to his fans and the Steelers organization for this distraction.”
