The 2011 Oscar nominations were revealed this morning by Mo’Nique and Academy Prez Tom Sherak. As expected, The King’s Speech led the pack with 12 nods. The film about King George VI was nominated for best picture and in three of the four acting categories.
True Grit, an adaptation of the 1969 film featuring John Wayne, picked up 10 nominations, including a best actor nod for Jeff Bridges who won the top honor for Crazy Heart last year.
Vying in the Best Actress category are: Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right, Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole, Jennifer Lawrence for Winter’s Bone, Natalie Portman for Black Swan and Michelle Williams for Blue Valentine – photos below.
Best Actor nods went to: Javier Bardem for Biutiful, Jeff Bridges for True Grit, Jesse Eisenberg for The Social Network, Colin Firth for The King’s Speech and James Franco for 127 Hours.
