Nicole and Keith welcome a second daughter …

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban hit the red carpet at the 2011 Golden Globes last night and they had a great big secret that was presumably shared with a few close friends at the star-studded event. They have a second biological daughter — who was born on December 28, 2010.

The infant, named Faith, was born nearly three weeks ago at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville to a surrogate. The couple reportedly paid for the exclusive use of the top floor of the hospital so they would have anonymity during the birthing event. They entered the facility via a back entrance and pulled off the entire process without being discovered.

They said in a statement: “Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret. No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier.”

Nicole had at least one egg removed through a harvesting procedure, and it was then fertilized with her husband’s sperm before being implanted into the womb of their chosen gestational carrier — who then successfully carried the child to term for the celebrity couple.

Kidman and Urban have another daughter, two-and-a-half year old Sunday Rose. Nicole caused quite a stir when she claimed that it was “fertility water” that enabled her to become pregnant in the fall of 2007.
