Singer and former alum Katy Perry headed back to Dos Pueblos Performing Arts High School in Santa Barbara to perform Tuesday. While on stage, she was reunited with the boy who didn’t pay her any attention back in the day, and had no problem calling him out.
While performing she recognized her old crush. “Is that Shane Lopes?” Perry said during a break between songs. “You were the most popular kid in my class! But you never wanted to date me, it was always Amanda Wayne. Oh yeah, you really chose right honey. What’s up. What’s up now, player. I’m going to dedicate this next one to Shane Lopes everyone.”
She then performed her single Ur So Gay. Lopes has no hard feelings over the situation. He said: “I turned red, I mean there’s only so much I can say because I didn’t have the microphone so I couldn’t form a rebuttal or talk any crap back.”
The former high school quarterback continued, “I was just sort of giving nonverbal reactions to all the things she said, I was mostly laughing. I wasn’t able to talk to her in person. I wanted to say ‘what’s up!'”
Lopes is happy with the way things turned out. As for him, he’s engaged to marry his high school sweetheart Amanda.
