Bret Michaels‘ tour manager Janna Elias has been updating the musician’s condition on his website. The latest news was posted on Sunday April 25. Check the rep’s Saturday update here.
The latest website statement reads: “At this point Bret remains in ICU in critical condition. He is under 24-hour doctors care and supervision. We are hopeful that further tests will locate the source of the bleeding, which has still not been located.”
The statement continues: “As we all know Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness, etc., will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal.” In closing, the rep thanked fans and friends for “their continued thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.”
We have also learned that Michaels told ambulance personnel that it felt “like getting hit in the head with a baseball bat over and over again.” Doctors refer to it as a “thunderclap headache” because of the intensity and suddenness of the pain that occurs with a brain hemorrhage.
Dr. Keith Siller of New York University’s Comprehensive Stroke Care Center said, “In some patients, doctors never find the source. You basically just wait for the symptoms to go away.” He acknowledged that if the patient is able to speak “they’re on the better end of things”.
Donald Trump told TMZ on Monday that he has been in contact with people at the hospital and close to the situation. Trump remarked, “Bret Michaels is in big, big trouble and the prognosis is not great.” He alluded that it is possible that the fall Michaels’ took on stage in 2009 might have some bearing on his current situation – see the accident video here.
Celebrity Apprentice was a great showcase of Bret’s talent last night – check out highlights here.
