Courtney Love may be trying to reinvent herself and then again, it might be something else entirely. At any rate she has rid herself of the name she adopted in the 1990s and will now be known as Courtney Michelle.
In an NME magazine interview, the Hole singer rationalized the decision to take her middle name as the new moniker. She said, “The name Courtney Love is a way to oppress me.”
She has also suddenly developed an aversion to the subject of her late husband Kurt Cobain. Courtney will no longer talk about him because she said, “I am not his spokesperson on Earth. I don’t know what he’d be like now, he could be into society girls, he could be into fat girls, he could be homosexual. We don’t know, he died at 27.”
The quirky and often troubled musician has been estranged from her only child, 17-year-old daughter Frances Bean Cobain, since last year when a court judge awarded legal guardianship of the teen to Kurt Cobain’s mother and sister.
Courtney Michelle and her newly revamped band Hole will released a studio album titled “Nobody’s Daughter” on April 27.
