MMA heavyweight legends Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira went three rounds in Portland, Oregon’s Rose Garden Arena, Saturday, August 29, in the main event of UFC 102.

Nogueira outpointed Couture by three scores of 30-27 in a competitive, high paced fight that had the crowd on its feet.

“It was beautiful to fight him,” said Nogueira, 33, the only man in history to hold the UFC and PRIDE heavyweight titles. “He’s a true champion and he’s one of my idols. It was a beautiful show today.”

“I’m disappointed about losing, but you gotta love this sport,” said 46-year-old Couture, a three time heavyweight and two-time light heavyweight champion.

With the win, Nogueira improves to 32-5-1. With his eye on a title belt, he hopes to fight against Brock Lesnar.

Couture falls to 16-10.
