NFL Hall of Fame QB Fran Tarkenton spoke out yesterday about the signing of Brett Favre by his former team, the Minnesota Vikings. Tarkenton played a total of 13 years for the Vikings and was quite vocal about the former Green Bay Packer legend coming out of retired for a second time.
Tarkenton did an interview on Sirius XM satellite radio and had some interesting comments to make about the legendary #4. He said, “I really think the whole Brett Favre saga of retiring, un-retiring, three weeks ago saying ‘I can’t play,’ and the Vikings saying ‘we’re moving on’, it’s a circus.”
According to Tarkenton, Packer fans should be very angry that Favre crossed over to Minnesota. He questions Favre’s motivation in signing with the Packer’s biggest rival and believes revenge played a big part in the decision.
The former NFL player said, “Wouldn’t you be upset if you’re a Packer fan? I think you’re going to have Packer fans burning the No. 4 Favre Green Bay jersey. I think the Packer fans have every right to be outraged.”
This isn’t new territory of Tarkenton. In May he was already providing media sound bites, calling Favre selfish and his interest in the Vikings “despicable.”
