If Britney Spears shows up to court today it will be the first time in over 6 months that the pop star and her ex husband Kevin Federline appear together in front of Commissioner Scott Gordon in the ongoing custody battle over their sons Jayden James and Sean Preston.

Britney has had varying degrees of success at previous court ordered hearings. On more than one occasion she arrived on the scene and departed within the span of several minutes. It appears likely that she will be an active participant in today’s proceedings.

Since her father Jamie has taken over her business and personal affairs, the singer has kept a low profile, has been involved in an intensive exercise program and has been gainfully employed with several television appearances on How I Met Your Mother.

Today’s hearing will cover Brit’s mental state, the court ordered psychiatric evaluation and revisit her parenting skills as observed by the court appointed monitor who oversees Spears visits with her sons.

From outward appearances, it looks like Britney is getting her act together. She has reportedly improved her communication and relationship with ex husband K-Fed and has been demonstrating more self control in her personal life. The star is hoping to have her visitation rights expanded to include overnight stays.
