Michelle Ballard from Johnson City, TN and Derby Jones from Brentwood, TN, after crossing the finish line at the 2008 9th Annual Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN
The Nashville Country Music Marathon, or Music City Marathon as most people call it, is well under way. The marathon and 1/2 marathon starts in Centennial Park and runs through Nashville’s most scenic sights. 50 bands on 28 entertainment stages and hundreds of high school cheerleaders entertain runners, walkers and spectators alike. Country, rock, jazz, blues, swing and more pulsate every mile on the course.
I have several friends running today’s marathon, and I had planned to be there to cheer them on, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to follow their progress on my computer and through frequent phone calls with my brother who is at the race.
In addition to the results, I will be posting a few photos that I just had my brother take with his phone. I’ll try to get them uploaded to my computer asap.
My brother’s girlfriend, Michelle Ballard, ran the 1/2 marathon, 13 miles, and finished in 2:23:58.
Another friend, Derby Jones, ran alongside Michelle for most of the race, finishing at 2:18:57.
Congrats you guys! Sorry I couldn’t be there for the race, but I will join you tonight to help you celebrate!
I will be posting the results as they become available.
Have a friend in the race? You can track their progress on the official Country Music Marathon website.
Thanks to my brother, Jeff Goebel, for the pictures. More photos below.
