Emilio Diaz, father of Cameron Diaz, died suddenly Tuesday morning.

The Seal Beach, California resident had been suffering from the flu, which developed into pneumonia. His death comes as a shock to those who knew him, as the 58-year-old was in “terrific health.”

Emilio, a foreman for an oil company, had a bit part in Cameron’s 1998 comedy “There’s Something About Mary.”

Cameron is currently filming “My Sister’s Keeper” and contrary to earlier reports that production had shut down on Tuesday, a rep for New Line Cinema says that they are shooting scenes not involving the grieving actress.
