Vanity Fair is said to be putting together a feature article detailing Jack Worthington‘s claim that he is the love child of the late President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Worthington is a successful businessman who, until a short time ago, was unaware of this revelation.
Worthington was raised in Houston, Texas by high school coach and school administrator Jack Worthington Sr and his mother Mary Evelyn Bibb Worthington. According to their son, Worthington Sr. died last May and some time afterward, his mother informed him that his birth father was the late JFK. President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 – Jack Worthington’s second birthday.
Jack Worthington has been vague in providing facts to support the strange tale. He claims that a reporter from the Vanity Fair staff leaked the information. He also contends that Vanity Fair courted him for six months before he agreed to tell them his story. His agreement with Vanity Fair is that they would protect his anonymity and that of his mother. He has offered to sign an affidavit stating unequivocally that he is not seeking money from the Kennedy family. He has offered to undergo DNA testing. The Kennedy family would need to be players in this endeavor by providing a DNA sample from a family member.
From all accounts, Worthington is a successful mergers and acquisitions expert, who worked for major American companies before founding an internet banking firm. He insists he has no motive to lie. His mother, who was widowed last year, lives in an impressive home in an affluent area of Houston.
Past business acquaintances of Worthington attest to his character and neighbors of the family claim that they have been model citizens. As to the connection between Mary Evelyn Bibb and JFK, that has thus far remained a mystery. Whether those details will emerge with the Vanity Fair piece is yet to be determined. It was well known that JFK was a womanizer, and that love trysts were facilitated by Secret Service agents and presidential aides. That part of the story is the easiest to swallow. The fact that Worthington’s mother waited until her husband’s death to reveal the secret seems to make sense too.
Who could blame Worthington for wanting to share the information, if for no other reason than to reveal another piece of history. The risk is that he will be labeled a money grubbing wacko. We are far from knowing the truth of the matter but there is a striking resemblance between the two photos. Caroline Kennedy has lost both of her parents and her brother John Kennedy Jr. Might she be willing to provide a DNA test? She has nothing to lose and much to gain. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
