Cops have arrested David Tarloff, 39 for the murder of Dr. Kathryn Faughey. Police believe the suspect, a diagnosed schizophrenic, was furious with Faughey and her business partner Dr. Kent Shinbach. The partner had Tarloff committed to a mental institution in 1993. He has been diagnosed as a schizophrenic.
Tarloff, a 39-year-old Queens telemarketer, was picked up by police investigators shortly after midnight, early Saturday. He is described by his neighbor as “a little weird”. He is being held in Manhattan’s 19th Precinct stationhouse. He reportedly has a long history of mental illness and numerous hospitalizations.
A composite sketch of the assailant has been released by New York City police department. More photos below, including a photo of Dr. Faughey and her husband Walter Adam. Surveillance cameras caught the suspect entering the building with several roller bags that presumably carried the murder weapons.
