Coco Vandeweghe, 16 year old teen, made her U.S. Open debut on Monday at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York. The tennis athlete is the niece of Kiki Vandeweghe, former UCLA basketball star and General Mgr. of the Denver Nuggets.
The 6 foot teen landed in the U.S. Open after being awarded a wild card into the women’s main draw. Coco’s first grand-slam event ended in a loss to second seed Jelena Jankovic in straight sets of 6-3 6-1. Jankovic advanced to the second round.
