British sculptor Marc Quinn will unveil his latest creation to the world at an exhibition that will begin on October 4, 2008 in London. The $2.8 million dollar, 110 pound solid gold statue is a depiction of supermodel Kate Moss that he has dubbed Siren. It is said to be the largest such creation built since ancient Egypt.
The artwork will be housed in the British Museum, in the same gallery that houses their collection of ancient Greek sculpture. The museum has only released a partial head shot but sources have leaked information suggesting that the statue shows Moss in a provocative yoga pose. In fact, the sculptor has already created a painted bronze statue of Moss. The 2006 creation is called Sphinx. This endeavor may be similar to the first piece.
