Beatles legend John Lennon evidently didn’t always have such a soft and carefree side. Son Sean Lennon has opened up in Philip Norman‘s new biography John Lennon: The Life which will hit shelves next month.

Sean, who is now 32 years old, remembers as a young child how his father would lose control of his temper and unleash his anger. He recalled a time when he paid the price for his actions.

“He was teaching me how to cut and eat steak, which was a mystery to me at age 4; how to stick the fork in and cut behind it, and that is how you got a piece in your mouth.

I think that was the night when he got very upset with me, I think because of something I did very cheekily with the steak. He did wind up yelling at me very, very loudly to the point where it damaged my ear, and I had to go to the hospital.”

Sean, who’s mother is Yoko Ono, also recounted how remorseful his father was after the incident, but doesn’t deny that John had a bad temper.
