The February 2010 cover of Vanity Fair features a bare chested, buff Tiger Woods. The decidedly hard to appreciate image was captured by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. We are told that the shoot took place long before the pro golfer changed the course of his life in the early-morning hours of November 27, 2009.

The accompanying story, written by Buzz Bissinger, is titled Tiger in the Rough, and the cover promises raw, never before seen photos inside. Leibovitz said, “Tiger is an intensely competitive athlete–and quite serious about his sport. I wanted to reveal that in these photos. And to show his incredible focus and dedication.”

The athlete hasn’t been seen since the end of November. Current rumors indicate he has been staying at Trump International in New York City, in the company of a leggy blonde. Other reports suggest he has checked himself into a treatment program in Arizona.

Elin Nordegren has reportedly been in the French Alps with her twin sister Josefin Nordgren, though new reports indicate she and the children are back in Florida.

The magazine issue will be available on newsstands in New York and L.A. on Wednesday, January 5, and nationwide on Tuesday, January 12.
