Celebrity Apprentice contestant Bret Michaels is in critical condition after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage. The former frontman for the glam metal band Poison was rushed to an undisclosed hospital on Thursday night after experiencing an excruciating headache.

The 47-year-old diabetic had been recovering from an emergency appendectomy that occurred just ten days ago when he was stricken with the new health crisis. Medical personnel performed several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram to determine where the bleed was located. They have determined that it is at the base of his brain stem. The subarachnoid hemorrhage can cause extensive brain damage.

At the hospital keeping vigil are Bret’s daughters Jorja Bleu and Raine Elizabeth, his ex-girlfriend Kristi Gibson and his manager, according to Michaels’ father Wally Sychak.

The musician has been a diabetic since childhood, and must do frequent testing and give himself insulin injections 4-6 times a day. Following his recent surgery, he was sent to a rehab facility that specializes in diabetic patients. It is unclear whether he was still there or back home.

Donald Trump released the following statement: “I am deeply saddened to hear about Bret Michaels and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time. In 2010 Michaels released a new single called “Nothing to Lose” from his upcoming studio album titled “Custom Built”. The song features the guest vocals of Miley Cyrus.
