The remaining seven contestants on the hit NBC reality show “The Biggest Loser” headed to Dallas during Tuesday night’s episode to inspire Texan’s with their success stories.
According to show host Alison Sweeney, the Lone Star State has a startlingly high obesity rate that could soon encompass 75 percent of it’s population. In order to shed light on this monumental health issue, “The Biggest Loser” did a media blitz on local radio stations and staged a 5K run. Each show contestant coached 35 participants before and during the 3+ mile run.
This weeks challenge had the “Biggest Loser” contestants wrangling calves. The player who was able to get the most animals rounded up in their pen would receive immunity. Sunshine decided to help her father O’Neal, while Sam wrangled for Koli. Daris nearly won on his own but in the end, Koli prevailed.
During the outdoor weigh-in, in 35 degree weather, Koli had immunity and lost a lowly 1 pound. It appears he used the common ‘game play’ strategy of filling up on water so that this week’s weight loss can be reflected next week. Sam, who has an identical workout to his cousin’s, lost 6 pounds. Daris lost 5, Michael an amazing 15 and Ashley a respectable 6 pounds. The trio formed a mini alliance during their stay in Texas.
At a disadvantage this week were Sunshine, who lost 4 pounds, and O’Neal Hampton, who lost 5. We learned last week that the popular Minneapolis contestant’s brother had died. This week father and daughter left for a day-and-a-half to attend the funeral. As it turned out, the stress and time away from their normal workout routine had an adverse affect on both of them and they ended up below the yellow line.
As expected, O’Neal threw himself on the sword and begged his fellow contestants to send him home in order to save Sunshine. The group honored his wishes and he headed back to Minneapolis. According to the clip that showed his continuing journey, he has lost an additional 15 pounds at home for a total loss of 139 pounds.
Be sure to tune in next week when the 6 remaining contestants will get a total makeover – easily one of the most popular segments each season. Can’t wait!
