After taking a $529,000 loss on his Bel Air home in late 2009, Patrick Dempsey forked over a whopping $7,000,000 for his current multi-level contemporary residence in Malibu.

Dempsey paid $3,100,000 for the 3,841 square foot New England style Bel Air home in 2006, selling it for $2,571,500 in 2009. After briefly leasing a home in Brentwood, Dempsey bought his current residence in June 2009.

Originally designed by architect Frank Gehry in 1972, the 5,547 square foot, 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home with two offices sits in the hills above Zuma Beach.

The property includes a 3,343 square foot barn with three stalls, tack room and wash racks, a riding ring, two irrigated pastures, a chicken coop, and established raised bed vegetable and herb gardens accented with rose bushes and flowering vines perfectly suited for the Dempsey’s reportedly organic lifestyle.

The home boasts a wall of glass in the front entry, and a lofted area overlooking the interior spaces unified by a 20-foot by 20-foot central sky light. A wall of windows in the formal dining area looks out onto the gardens. The galley style kitchen with polished concrete counter tops opens into the breakfast area. An elevated den with built in shelving and a wall of windows sits over the breakfast area.

A wooden deck and tree-shaded banquettes surround the swimming pool and an outdoor rain shower.
