Chelsea Handler dropped a few not-so-subtle hints Wednesday night that she and boyfriend Dave Salmoni have called it quits.
“Up until a couple weeks ago, I was working very intimately with the Animal Planet, but unfortunately, that contract was terminated,” she said during her Chelsea Lately monologue. “However, I enjoyed being in bed with them and may hook up for an occasional project.”
Salmoni, 34, appeared on a July 19 episode of Handler’s show, where she introduced the Animal Planet Into the Pride host as her “rumored lover.” See video
Handler, 35, then confirmed she was dating Salmoni during a July 21 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. “It’s nice to date somebody who can protect you from a bear or a lion,” she quipped.
The couple were last seen together in August at a Natasha Bedingfield concert. See photos
Handler’s rep would not confirm the split, saying only, “She saves all commentary about her personal life for her own show.”
Chelsea is set to host the 27th annual MTV VMAs September 12 at the Nokia Theatre.
