Elizabeth Edwards left her estate to her three children…
Elizabeth Edwards drafted a new will in October and made it legally binding with her signature in the final days of her life. On December 1, 2010, six days before her death, she signed her last will and testament that named her oldest daughter Cate executor and left everything to her three living children.
The five-page document did not mention her estranged husband John Edwards. Elizabeth wrote in the will: “All of my furniture, furnishings, household goods, jewelry, china, silverware and personal effects and any automobiles owned by me at the time of my death, I give and bequeath to my children.”
Everything else she left to Catharine, a lawyer, to distribute at her own discretion. She named her eldest as guardian of Jack and Emma Claire with respect to overseeing their inherited funds. They will reside with their father.
In death, it turns out that Elizabeth Edwards had the last word regarding her husband’s indiscretions.
