There are some changes being made at Oprah Winfrey‘s new ‘OWN’ network. For starters, Oprah fired Christina Newman–who held the CEO spot for a short-lived four months before a major overhaul led to her dismissal.

The Oprah Network, jointly owned by Discovery Channel, was pulling in dismal numbers. At some points during the day, a mere 148,000 viewers were tuning in… signalling an immediate call to action.

Peter Liguori, COO of the company that owns the Discovery Channel, was brought in to right the sinking ship.

Oprah sent out a memo to the staff about the change and spoke in flattering tones about Peter. She is banking on his ability to turn OWN around: “Given all that we do, the OWN board felt it was necessary that we have a different kind of leadership in place for the next phase of OWN’s growth.”

The end is in sight for The Oprah Winfrey Show, with only 14 episodes to be aired before she walks into the sunset. We’re guessing that once she puts her 25 year daytime talk show career behind her, she’ll be more hands-on with OWN.
