Javier Colon gets second chance at a career …
The first season of the hit NBC reality singing show The Voice wrapped last night with Javier Colon winning the competition. He will receive $100,000 and a lucrative recording contract.
The 33-year-0ld from Stratford, Connecticut, and protege of Adam Levine, beat out Dia Frampton, Vicci Martinez and Beverly McClellan.
Colon became the lead vocalist for The Derek Trucks Band after graduating from college. He toured with the group for two years before venturing out on his own and signed with Capitol Records as a solo act at age 24. He released two albums, the last in 2006.
After parting company with Capitol, he performed with Joss Stone, Darius Rucker, and the Indigo Girls . His latest success was as the singer and songwriter for the single, October Sky, on Vanessa William‘s vocal album, The Real Thing.
Blake Shelton‘s top protege, Dia Frampton, sang a duet with his wife Miranda Lambert. According to show host Carson Daly, she received a mere two percent less votes than the winner.
