Universal Pictures scored big over the weekend with the $70.7 million debut of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The impressive three day showing marks the most successful box-office debut so far in 2012.

The 3-D animated family film features the voices of Danny DeVito, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Betty White.

In a cautionary tale about the importance of preserving the environment, a 12-year-old boy from Thneedville sets out on a mission to find a living tree in order to win the heart of a girl. He must venture outside of the walled city that is controlled by the all powerful and evil Mr. O’Hare.
