Rihanna has stirred up a great deal of anger for her decision to work with Chris Brown after being assaulted by him in 2009.
The Barbadian pop singer did a telephone interview this morning with Ryan Seacrest on 102.7 KIIS FM. Toward the end of their on-air conversation, the radio jock asked her to explain why she decided to collaborate with the man who beat her up.
She explained, “I reached out to him about doing ‘Birthday Cake’ because that’s the only person that really … it made sense to do the record. Just as a musician … despite everything else … that was going to be the person.”
“I thought about other rappers, and I’ve done that so many times, and the hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown. So I wanted him on the track.” Lyrics here.
Is this simply a solid business decision or a slap in the face for everyone who supported her in the aftermath of a vicious domestic assault?
