Invisible Children co-founder and Kony 2012 director Jason Russell suffered a major meltdown on the streets of San Diego on Thursday. He ran naked while making sexual gestures, screaming like a maniac and vandalizing cars.

The street spectacle began with Jason dancing in Speedo-like underwear that he soon discarded. It is unclear whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Russell was detained by SDPD and placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. He can be held for up to three days for evaluation to determine whether he is a threat to himself or others.

The CEO of Invisible Children, Ben Keesey spoke with TMZ, “Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized yesterday suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition. He is now receiving medical care and is focused on getting better. The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday.”

“Jason’s passion and his work have done so much to help so many, and we are devastated to see him dealing with this personal health issue. We will always love and support Jason, and we ask that you give his entire family privacy during this difficult time.”
