Former WWE heavyweight champion David Batista aka Batista is switching over to MMA after training for years to get into the mixed martial arts cage.

In 2010 Batista was close to signing with the Strikeforce league but the deal fell through. Now the 43-year-old has signed on with the CES MMA league.

The big night is slated for October 6 at the Duncan Doughnuts Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.

Batista, 6’6″ and 290, will fight Rashid Evans in a televised broadcast.
