Kerry Kennedy has no recollection of her erratic ride on I-684 near North Castle or the hit and run accident that occurred during last Friday morning’s rush-hour.
The Kennedy camp believes that the ex-wife of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wasn’t impaired by drugs or alcohol but may have suffered some type of seizure caused by a previously undiagnosed medical condition.
Her lawyer claims that blood and urine tests that were done independently at Northern Westchester Hospital after Kennedy was released from jail, came back negative for drugs. Police are taking a wait and see attitude until their own test results come back.
Police found Kennedy, a lawyer, slumped over the wheel of her vehicle at 8:00 a.m. on July 13. She was dressed in tennis whites and is believed to have been on her way to meet someone to play.
The visibly impaired driver passed a field administered Breathalyzer test but when asked if she had taken any medication, acknowledged that she may have taken an Ambien.
The sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr was arraigned and released to family members. She and her lawyer are due in North Castle court on Tuesday to answer the charges.
Kerry has reportedly been grieving the loss of her college roommate and sister-in-law Mary Kennedy, who committed suicide two months ago.
