‘Splash’ star Daryl Hannah was arrested in northeast Texas yesterday for protesting the Keystone XL oil pipeline designed to bring crude oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast.
Daryl had a partner in crime, 78-year-old Texas landowner and great-grandmother Eleanor Fairchild.
The duo were standing in front of heavy equipment in order to stop pipeline construction underway on Fairchild’s farm in Winnsboro. Deputies arrests both women for criminal trespassing and resisting arrest before transporting them to the Wood Country Jail.
TransCanada spokesman David Dodson said, “It is unfortunate Ms. Hannah and other out-of-state activists have chosen to break the law by illegally trespassing on private property.”
The actress was previously arrested outside of the White House in August 2011 during a pipeline protest in Washington D.C. She has voiced grave concerns that the pipeline is not safe and will lead to widespread contamination.
