President Barack Obama spoke at the Nokia Theater in Hollywood Sunday night during a star-studded fundraiser, using the occasion to poke fun at his poor debate performance.

Celebrities George Clooney, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry and Earth Wind and Fire warmed up the crowd before POTUS stepped out on stage to address the well-heeled throng of supporters.

He apologized for missing the pre-show but acknowledged that “these professionals perform flawlessly night after night. Uhhh, I can’t always say the same.”

The crowd embraced the moment and reacted with cheers and applause.

Katy Perry hit Twitter to share her manicure before her performance. She deemed her decidedly Democratic-themed paint job, “Appropriate nails.” The singer also tweeted, “Today I am so proud to play for the president.”
