The University Philosophical Society at Trinity College in Dublin presented talk show host Conan O’Brien with the Bram Stoker Honorary Patronage gold medal during a ceremony attended by his family on Thursday.
‘The Phil,’ a respected member of the international debating circuit, bestows the coveted award upon recipients chosen from the following categories: political figures, prominent academics, news media and journalism, literary figures, performing arts, business and technology leaders and sports figures.
Past honorees include Newt Gingrich, Desmond Tutu, John McCain, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Helen Mirren, Al Pacino, Oliver Stone, Jon Voight, Naomi Campbell, Courtney Love and Tommy Hilfiger.
While in Dublin, O’Brien and his wife Liza Powel and their son and daughter have been doing the tourist thing, including a visit to the National Gallery of Ireland.
