First time mother Morena Baccarin welcomed a baby boy with husband and director Austin Chick on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Showtime’s ‘Homeland’ actress gave birth at a Glendale, California hospital to a “just under 8 pound” son Julius — the couple’s first child. They wed in Nov. 2011.

The 34-year-old actress, who plays Jessica Brody on the award-winning show, was nervous about revealing her condition while filming season three of the show. She admits, “I was a little freaked out about telling the show.”

Baccarin explained, “I had a sense of responsibility to my job and I suddenly felt like, ‘Am I going to be disappointing everybody that I’m knocked up?’ But life goes on. Everybody was so kind to me. Claire Danes laid down the groundwork and they’re really good at hiding pregnancies now.”

She’ll appear on the big screen early next year in the raunchy comedy ‘Back in the Day.’ The characters in the ensemble cast return to their hometown for a high school class reunion. Her co-star Michael Rosenbaum, as Jim Owens, nearly destroys the town and his friendships.

The show is rated R for language, sexual content and some graphic nudity and is slated to hit theaters on Jan. 7, 2014 — giving Morena time to recover before she is called upon to promote the film at a number of red carpet premiere events.
