Lamar Odom trained Friday with his former NBA team the Los Angeles Clipper before going into a two-hour meeting with coach Doc Rivers and his management team.
Lamar, a free agent, is interested in an available roster spot and is lobbying to be signed. He may have a difficult time convincing the team of his worth after coming off the worst season of his career with a disappointing stat of four points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Add to that the fact that he was arrested for DUI in August and has been the subject of intense media scrutiny due to his very public battle with substance abuse and estrangement from his reality star wife Khloe Kardashian.
A source reports, “He has been talking to them for weeks. He’s close to signing. They were definitely apprehensive but Lamar has shown huge improvement over the last few weeks and everyone around him believes he is sober.”
“He has a great support system. It’s all up to him at this point. He’s the one who can seriously f-up his life. But he has the tools to stay sober and he’s well aware that one false move costs him his career.”
While still living separately, recent reports indicate that Khloe and Lamar are currently going to counseling to determine whether they can salvage their four year marriage.
