It didn’t take the A&E Network long to weigh in on a controversial GQ article featuring anti-gay hate speech by ‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch Phil Robertson.
A&E said in a statement, “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Network, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”
The network dealt swiftly with the matter Wednesday, hours after GLAAD called for action against Robertson for his “vile and extreme stereotypes and public disdain for LGBT people and families.”
Robertson hit Twitter after having his plug pulled, “@AETV you made the wrong move by doing this but it was your choice.”
Last night the family appeared on Barbara Walters’ final 10 Most Fascinating People special on ABC. The only member absent during a family interview was Phil Robertson, father of Willie, Jase, Jep and Alan. Phil’s wife Miss Kay told Walters that during hunting season her husband doesn’t make public appearances. Hmmm…
