The Post reports today that Ron Galotti, the inspiration for Mr. Big, is in talks with McGraw-Hill, for a book deal. I had to wonder, how would Carrie Bradshaw react to the news? -raronauer
In a city like New York, opportunity is always around the corner. One minute, you???re walking through SoHo, unable to find a cab or Starbucks for your life, and by a stroke of luck, you uncover the best sample sale of your life.
But clothes are just the beginning. Sure, a great pair of Milanos can put the most recent relationship disaster in perspective, but when I look at my friends, I know I have been very lucky indeed. And I had to wonder, in an age where we???re all so interconnected, can luck spread?
Since Mr. Big married and moved to Vermont, we haven???t spoken much. But part of me knows that after all we???ve been through???the high highs and the low lows???we???ll always share something. And I know this because we have the same good luck.
So Mr. Big is in talks for his own book deal. In my head, I don???t want to see his thoughts on us, why he couldn???t love me the way I needed him to, why he couldn???t just commit. But in my heart, in my heart I know I???ll be pulling all the strings I???ve got in this city for a copy of the uncorrected proof.
Because when I???m honest with myself, truly honest, I know that no matter how many Jimmy Choos I get for half off, Mr. Big will always have a piece of me.

I’m glad the guy’s doing the book. The Carrie/Big hook-up at the end was pure, unadulterated pandering — completely unworthy of HBO. It made all the early episodes, when Carrie was forced into the realization, that she “picks the WRONG men,” MEANINGLESS. It eliminated complexity. The idea that people change is tough enough. But the hardest medicine to swallow is, that usually, (EVEN with people who share a lot), the reason things didn’t work out is that they just weren’t the right people for each other. OR in this case, Carrie wasn’t Big’s ideal woman. I think what happened between Bushnell and Galotti illustrates that.
