Tragic news out of Hollywood today, as Anne Heche is reportedly not expected to survive the brain injuries that she sustained in a car accident last week.

A rep for Heche has confirmed to People that the actress’ condition is much more severe than previously reported.

Heche crashed her car into a house in Los Angeles on Friday, August 5 and has not regained consciousness.

Doctors now believe she will never awaken from her coma.

“Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition,” a rep for the Emmy winner said in a statement issued on Thursday.

“She is not expected to survive.”

The rep added that Heche has decided to donate her organs, and doctors have kept her on life support in the hope that she’ll be able to do so.

“It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she’s being kept on life support to determine if any are viable,” says the rep.

While it was previously reported that Heche was in critical condition, the news that doctors do not expect her to regain consciousness still came as a shock to many.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” a rep for the actress revealed on Aug. 8.

“She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

On social media, the news of Heche’s condition sparked an outpouring of support from both friends and fans.

“Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress and mother tonight Anne Heche,” wrote actor James Tupper, who was partners with Heche for more than 10 years prior to their 2018 breakup.

Another ex-boyfriend of Heche’s, actor Thomas Jane, offered “thoughts and prayers,” crediting Anne as “one of the true talents of her generation.”

The actress leaves behind two sons, Atlas, 13, and Homer, 20.

Career-wise, she had been wildly busy in recent months, with a slate of upcoming projects soon to be released, including the highly-anticipated Idol, the new series from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.

“We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital,” reads the latest statement from Heche’s reps;

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit,” the statement continues.

“More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work –especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

Heche reportedly had cocaine and fentanyl in her system at the time of her death, and police say she committed two separate hit-and-runs before crashing into a house.

Despite her obvious troubles, however, Anne clearly managed to touch many lives during her all-too-short time on earth, and she will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts go out to her loved ones during this enormously difficult time.
