Buckle up, television fans.

The most popular show on the small screen now has a return date.

AMC announced today at Comic-Con in San Diego that The Walking Dead Season 6 will premiere on Sunday, October 11 at 9/8c.

Per usual with this smash hit show, the season will be divided into a pair of eight-episode installments:

New episodes will air for two straight months; then the series will take a length hiatus; then eight more will start airing in February of next year.

Two more notes from Comic-Con this afternoon:

  1. A Talking Dead Season 6 Preview Special will air on August 23, be hosted by Chris Hardwick and give fans a glimpse at what's to come.
  2. The network  announced a special season premiere event at Madison Square Garden in New York City this October.

For the latter, cast members and executive producers will be on hand for a screening and panel discussion at The World’s Most Famous Arena in New York City.
