The Voice Season 8’s Knockout Rounds continued Tuesday with three do-or-die battles … well, most likely do or die, as there are still steals in play.
Who got knocked out? Stolen? Moved on to the next round? Let’s find out …
Cody Wickline vs. Corey Kent White (Team Blake): Cody fired a strong opening salvo with Justin Moore’s “‘Til My Last Day,” but Corey didn’t cave.
A clear underdog going in, he responded with Tim McGraw’s hit “Live Like You Were Dying" and showed his coach who the real star of this battle is.
It was the performance people would remember, and despite the fact that Cody has plenty of talent and a strong stage presence, Blake took notice.
Corey got the nod in what was clearly an upset, but he also earned it.
Blaze Johnson vs. Deanna Johnson (Team Adam): Still looking for a signature performance to match his amazing back story, Blaze belted out “You Found Me.”
His take on the Fray hit didn’t quite score the knockout he might have hoped for, however, while Deanna rose to the occasion with "Listen to Your Heart."
Not that she was perfect by any means, with her pitch problems and obvious nerves, but given the competition, and her natural star power, she got it done.
Deanna is the winner of this battle, and Blaze is heading back home.
Hannah Kirby vs. Caitlin Caporale (Team Pharrell): Yet again, Coach Williams put together a doozy for viewers, but put himself in a very tough position.
Singing Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love,” Hannah let loose on stage like a woman who was higher than … we don’t even know. But talk about energy.
This is a woman who’s going to get a lot of fan support, but also risks the reverse, as her over-the-top, almost theatrical style can be pretty polarizing.
Meanwhile, Caitlin was technically proficient with her Demi Lovato "Warrior" cover, but really nothing to write home about. So what did their mentor do?
He took Caitlin, the safe choice, which seemed out of character.
You gotta keep people guessing, and maybe he’s just winging it, but considering that he stole Hannah in the Battle Rounds, it was a bit of a surprise.
Even more of a shocker? Hannah’s original coach, Blake, swooped in for the steal, taking the aspiring singer back after a second consecutive defeat!
Only one more episode of Knockouts to go, and only one more Steal, for Team Christina, left in play when things pick up next Monday night on NBC.
