On Criminal Minds Season 10 Episode 7, the team traveled to Maryland to investigate a series of mysterious killings of victims with big social media followings.
Hence the title "Hashtag." But who was the UnSub, and how did they find him or her?
When Criminal Minds Season 10 Episode 7 got underway, Tara Harris is killed.
The 16-year-old was posing for a mirror selfie. Her murderer takes her picture and posts it to Twitter with the note "Fear me" and the hashtag #selfie.
The tweet obviously goes viral, with more than a million people re-tweeting.
Meanwhile, someone is doctoring other mirror selfies to include a shadowy figure behind the people, earning this online UnSub the moniker "mirror man."
Soon enough, another popular online figure, Alexander Chase, is killed.
The UnSub strikes him while he’s in his car, shooting several nails into his head and neck, then making a hashtag symbol with a nail gun on his back seat.
A third victim, Daniel Osborne, makes the mistake of taunting the killer.
Before long, he is the third victim, also killed via nail gun at his home.
The BAU suspects that the UnSub might be Connor Holt, a high schooler who confesses that he came up with the "Mirror Man" story, but is no murderer.
Now the BAU thinks it may be someone who admires Connor. Holt thinks about it and realizes that it could well be William Pratt, a friend and classmate.
Confronted at the mall by the team, Pratt panics, capturing a woman.
With a nail gun to her head, he makes threats and the BAU tries to diffuse the situation. Then a media truck arrives and Pratt shoots a nail into the woman’s beck.
Morgan shoots him immediately. Both Pratt and the woman survive.
Speaking of Morgan, it looks like he’s going to move in with his lovely girlfriend, as he showed her the house he’s been remodeling – for both of them.
