Holly Bobo’s remains were found in Decatur County, Tenn., on Sunday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced during a news conference last night.
The 20-year-old nursing student was last seen April 13, 2011.
Bobo’s brother told authorities he saw her – for the last time – following an unknown man in hunting clothes into the woods near the family home in Darden.
Decatur County Sheriff Keith Byrd said hunters found a human skull shortly Sunday morning. An expert was able to match the teeth with Bobo’s dental records.
The search scene where the remains were discovered is in the northern part of the county, about 11 miles from where suspect Zachary Adams resided.
Police say Zachary Adams killed Holly Bobo and he is facing aggravated kidnapping and first-degree felony murder charges for the high-profile case.
District Attorney General Matt Stowe said, “Everyone knows how serious the charges are and how important it is to get to the truth. And we will get to the truth.”
He said the State of Tennessee is “ready, willing, and able” to make this a death penalty case, and added that “you can delay justice, but you can’t deny it."
The Bobo family will issue a statement Tuesday.
